The team I am on has changed considerably in the last month with new people joining. We had what is called a bootstrapping session to accommodate for this.
It is referred to as a "bootstrap" session as the new team is being started up. This was the first bootstrap session I have attended and it was an interesting experience.
The session takes most of the day. The idea behind it is to get an understanding of what makes each person on the team tick and based on that agree on the team agreement / code that we will all follow. The point of the session is to get people on the same page with their working style, what drives them and what would annoy them to the point that they leave the team. It was definitely a valuable exercise as it gives everyone a good perspective of one another and puts us all on the same page.
