Everynym, Sovrin and Hyperledger Indy

Hyperledger Indy is a blockchain that specialises in managing identity. Initially one of the things that is confusing is Sovrin and Evernym being used in relation to Indy.

For instance if you search for the Indy white paper the Sovrin white paper comes up.

Essentially the relationship between these entities is as follows:

  • Evernym: is the for profit company that originally developed Indy
  • Sovrin: is the none-profit organisation that Evernym setup to manage the public Indy blockchain
  • (Hyperledger) Indy: is the name of the open sourced identity chain that Evernym open sourced
